  • NEW FL Wildfire Report Coming Soon
  • Although California wildfires have garnered much attention from the media, the state of Florida is facing a wildfire predicament as well. According to the Florida Division of Forestry, there have been 3,631 wildfires, which have burned approximately 260,616 acres in the state of Florida so far this year.

Within the next few weeks, CDS will be adding a Florida wildfire report to its RiskMeter Online service. This report will return a property's proximity to very low, low, medium and high wildfire risk. If you have any questions or if you wish to add this report to your account, please contact your account executive at 617.737.4444.

  • RiskMeter Adds NEW Glossary/Resources Section
  • CDS has compiled many different maps, presentations and statistics over the years. We're now trying to make more of this information available to our users by adding a new glossary/resources section to the RiskMeter Online.

To view the material in this section, you will need to log into your account. Once you've logged in, you'll notice several hyperlinks (view address, new account, etc) on the bottom of the page. All you need to do is click on the second to last link (glossary/resources) and you'll be taken to a landing page, which contains the new resources link.

We're still in the process of adding information to this section so make sure to check back often! For more information, please contact Angela Sciola at 617.737.4444 or asciola@cdsys.com

  • Complimentary Rating Territory Analysis
  • Studies have shown that on average, an insurer codes policies with the wrong territory approximately 15% of the time. In general most errors are in the insureds' favor, costing you significant premium dollars. By validating territories when policies are written, you can instantly increase your written premiums. Also, companies with significant errors leave themselves open to fines by the states and lawsuits by customers. If you have an error rate of just 5% and you have 100,000 policies, that's 5,000 errors!

    Complimentary Error Rate Analysis
With our mapping technology, we can ensure that your rating territories are being properly assigned, regardless of how your territories are defined. Call customer service at 617.737.4444 to discuss a complimentary trial. We can run a sample of your existing book of business through our software and determine your error rate. From there, we can estimate how much money accurate territories mean to your organization.

In addition, CDS already has many territories that we have drawn, and are available to you today. These include all AAIS rating territories (personal, commercial, etc.), Citizens FL territories, LA Fair Plan territories, CEA Zones and CA PML zones. Contact CDS at 617.737.4444 if you are interested in learning more.

    Rating Territory WebEx
On Tuesday, September 11, 2007 Daniel Munson, Founder of the RiskMeter Online will perform a live demonstration of RiskMeter's Rating Territory report, which will allow you to see for yourself how RiskMeter's GIS mapping technology can help you to code policies correctly. In addition, Daniel will also share some of his past consulting experiences with rating territories and answer questions. To reserve your spot, please go to: https://cdsys.webex.com

  • New Jersey and Delaware Storm Surge Now Available
  • CDS has added New Jersey and Delaware to its growing list of areas where the RiskMeter Storm Surge report is now available. This report identifies areas susceptible to coastal flooding from hurricanes. The next state that will be added is MD, followed by VA. Then we will have the entire Gulf and Atlantic Coasts complete. Stay tuned! If you have any questions or are interested in a free trial, please contact Daniel Munson at 617.737.4444 or dmunson@cdsys.com

  • Important Information about the New Connecticut Coastline
  • CDS recently spoke to the Connecticut Department of Insurance about its new coastline requirements and would like to pass along some important information regarding the RiskMeter approved CT coastline.

It has been brought to our attention that all carriers who write residential business in Connecticut should be using either RiskMeter's CT coastline report or another CT DOI approved vendor report. Carriers should not be using pre-existing coastal products that do not comply with what the department has agreed to. There may be no deviations or variations made and companies will be subject to market conduct reviews to ensure that they are in compliance.

Currently, it's not required to write commercial policies using the new CT DOI coastline, but it is encouraged. Also, we are not sure if this applies to non-admitted carriers. It has been confirmed though if any carrier has not been using the approved CT Department of insurance coastline report on residential properties, they will be considered out of compliance with the department's guidelines. In addition, the CT DOI coastline still needs to be used even if a carrier does not require storm shutters as part of their coastal guidelines.

If anyone has questions or concerns, please contact Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125 or jmunson@cdsys.com

  • New RiskMeter email eReport
  • Due to popular demand, the RiskMeter Online has just added a new feature which makes it possible to email a pdf of a report. In the past this could be done, but the user needed to save a copy of the PDF to their computer, and then attach it to an email. Now it can be done by simply entering an email address. This will be especially useful for people who want to save a copy of the report to their imaging system.

Users can utilize this feature by clicking on the "Email eReport" icon. Once this icon is clicked on, users just need to submit an email address and the RiskMeter Online will send a pdf of the report to the email entered. For people who are interested in adding this feature to their account, please contact an account executive at 617.737.4444

  • Update: South Carolina Windpool Areas
  • On March 30, 2007 South Carolina Beach and Coastal windpool areas were changed and approximately 166 square miles were added to zones 1 and 2.

The state of South Carolina has once again made changes to these zones (effective June 1st) and approximately 330 square miles have been added. We have updated these maps on the RiskMeter Online, and we will continue to monitor this situation if anymore changes need to be made.

If you have any questions or you would like more information about running your book of business through in batch, please contact Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125 or jmunson@cdsys.com
