| Test Drive the RiskMeter
2.0 |
|
|
The RiskMeter Online has made two significant
improvements to its service and we'd love for our
users to test them out!
First, RiskMeter has improved the look of its
street maps by adding street names and landmarks
to them. This enhancement will make it easier for
users to run reports on new developments,
properties located in rural areas, as well as
verify addresses that have poor geocoding
results. The second improvement
the RiskMeter Online has made is the ability
to overlay GIS maps directly on aerial
images. This revolutionary feature
will be extremely helpful in analyzing risk, by
enabling users to see where natural hazards fall
in relation to a building. Users will no longer
need to compare a GIS map to an aerial image, as
these two maps have been merged. To see
sample screen shots, click here.
To test this service out, please contact Ryan
Turgeon at 617.737.4444
or rturgeon@cdsys.com

| RiskMeter Batch
Enhancements |
|
|
For those of you who aren't familiar with the
RiskMeter Online batch service, it allows users to
run multiple addresses or schedules, without the
need to type in each address individually.
The batch feature enables users to upload a file
and get the results Emailed back in spreadsheet
form anytime, anywhere.
CDS has taken your feedback and is in the
process of making some enhancements to the
RiskMeter Online Batch Web site,
including:
- Option to save results as an Excel
spreadsheet
- Internal RiskMeter code deleted from results
- Current batch users can click on a link in
RiskMeter and it will automatically log them
into the batch site
- Ability to add Geocoding Accuracy column
- Option to add Latitude/Longitude column
- Ability to click a link in the output table
to open an individual record in
RiskMeter
Out of all of the enhancements we have made,
providing our users with the ability to pull up
individual records in RiskMeter is a huge
development. This feature will allow users
to dig deeper and pull up aerial photos to see if
a building is in a flood zone or to see how dense
brush is in a particular area.
To add the batch feature to your account or
to add the geocoding accuracy &
latitude/longitude columns to your output, please
contact your account executive at
617.737.4444.
For feedback or to request additional
features on the RiskMeter batch service, please

| New Report: ATC Earthquake
Hazard Zones |
|
|
CDS has recently added a new earthquake
report to the RiskMeter Online. The ATC
(Advanced Technology Council) earthquake zones are
widely used zones that rank earthquake hazards
throughout the United States. These county
based scores rank locations from 1-7
(low-high). Many brokers use these scores to
identify locations at risk from earthquakes.
This report is now available on the RiskMeter
Online. Please contact your RiskMeter Online
account executive at
617.737.4444 if you
need more information or would like to
add this to your
account. |
| Over 300 Sinkholes Added
to Sinkhole Clearinghouse |
|
CDS is proud to announce that over 300
sinkholes have been added between our clearing
house and regular sinkhole database. In an
effort to provide the most comprehensive sinkhole
report for Florida, CDS is coordinating a sinkhole
clearing house for carriers. Currently,
there are over 5,000 sinkholes in the clearing
house. CDS believes sharing sinkhole
information will allow carriers to have the most
accurate picture of sinkhole activity in FL.
Missing just one of these could lead to a very
costly claim! Get involved
today! How Does this Program
Work?For people who aren't familiar
with this program, here's how it works.
Insurers who submit reported sinkholes will have
access to an exclusive database that is comprised
of our data and other carriers' data. Taking
part in this program is a win-win situation
because it will give users a better picture of
their sinkhole risk. To find out more about
this program, contact Jamie Munson at
860.854.6125 or jmunson@cdsys.com |
| Top Ten Hail Prone
Metro Areas |
|
|
CDS has just released its list of the top
ten hail prone metro areas. This list
is based on the RiskMeter Online's Hail
Model, which predicts the severity of hail
for any location in the Continental United
States. According to this report, the
following top ten hail prone metro areas (pop
50,000+) are as follows:
- Amarillo, TX
- Tulsa, OK
- Wichita, KS
- Dodge City, KS
- Oklahoma City, OK
- Wichita Falls, TX
- Fort Worth, TX
- Denver, CO
- Kansas City, MO
- Colorado Springs, CO
Hail events are a constant threat to property
and casualty insurers. In 2005 alone there
were over 13,000 hail storms in the United
States. In addition, according to Swiss RE,
4 out of the top 20 most costly insurance losses
were hail related.

| Updated: KY Municipal
Tax |
|
CDS has recently updated its Kentucky Premium
Tax report. Under new legislation passed by
the State of Kentucky, insurers must use Risk
Location Technology, like the RiskMeter to
calculate premium taxes. CDS has improved
its report in two ways. First, all of the
information has been updated. Second, we
have used the official boundary definitions as
provided by the state. For more information,
please contact Jamie Munson at jmunson@cdsys.com or
860.854.6125 |
| New Report: RI Windspeed
|
|
The State of Rhode Island has mandated that
new wind zones be used by carriers in Rhode Island
to determine coastal eligibility. Within the
highest risk zones, insurers must offer coverage
as long as the insured has certain mitigation
measures in place. Carriers who write
homeowners insurance in RI can use these maps in
conjunction with their homeowner rating
territories, to determine coastal
eligibility. For more information on this
report, contact Dan Munson at dmunson@cdsys.com or
617.737.4444.
