The
RiskMeter has Moved! |
|
Over the past week the RiskMeter Online was moved to our
newest co-location facility. This move represents a vast
improvement to our existing infrastructure and offers
tremendous redundancy. The new facility will give our users
increased performance, additional bandwidth, will be serviced
by a self healing fiber optic ring, and provide redundancy
through multiple Central Offices and multiple carriers.
We have also created a service to sign up for RiskMeter
Technical bulletins. If emergency maintenance has to be
performed in the future, subscribers will receive notification
via email to alert them of the situation and the potential
time involved. To join the list, simply send an Email titled:
"Sign Me Up" to riskmeterupdates@cdsys.com
In
the body of the Email, please enclose the following
information:
- Name
- Address
- Title
- Company
- Telephone Number
- Email Address

2007 Premium
Tax Reporting |
|
Yes, it's that time again. Certain states, municipalities,
counties and fire districts have set up premium taxes that
must be collected and reported by insurers. These taxes
require insurers to report to the state their total premiums
for each jurisdiction.
Reporting the total premiums for each jurisdiction code
can be a very time consuming and error prone process.
According to an article in the June 13th edition of the
Cincinnati Post, at least 11 companies were charging city
insurance premium taxes to residents, who live in other cities
or unincorporated areas. At this time, several national
carriers have been named in a class-action lawsuit as a result
of incorrectly assigning premium taxes.
CDS can help. We can take your entire book for the
states where taxes must be collected and assign the correct
tax codes for each. For new business, you can simply type
the addresses into the RiskMeter Online to get back the right
jurisdiction, whether it's a county, city or fire district.
And yes, in Florida, we are using the DOI's tax database as a
part of our detailed process.

Integrate
the RiskMeter into Your Quoting and Underwriting Systems for
Straight Through Processing |
|
Eliminating repetitive steps during the quoting and
underwriting process is vital in today's competitive insurance
industry. More and more organizations are seeing for
themselves how seamless processing has improved underwriting
efficiency and helped to boost agents' sales. By integrating
with the RiskMeter Online, you can:
- Eliminate duplicate data entry
- Validate information as it is entered
- Truly quote and bind online, because the data is
validated prior to being bound
CDS understands the need to streamline your processes
and can help you make that happen. We also recognize that many
carriers work with 3rd party integrators and systems providers
on IT projects. We have worked with several 3rd party
integrators, including: BIPT, Blue Cod, EBode, Insurance
Data Processing, RMS Rackley Systems, Sapiens and Westpoint
Underwriters. Our goal is to work with as many systems
vendors as possible, and to make hooks into the RiskMeter an
off the shelf option in these systems.
Integrating the RiskMeter into your quoting and
underwriting systems is easy! We have excellent tools and
support available, including sample programming code,
documentation, an XML generator, and a complete integration
support portal http://support.riskmeter.com.
We are working hard bring you best-of-class
support! |

Florida
Physical Building Characteristics - Lower Your Reinsurance
Costs |
|
As most insurance people know, building details, such as
the number of stories, year built, roof shape, etc., can
greatly affect how a building withstands a hurricane. And as a
result, these details dramatically affect the cost of
reinsurance. This is especially true in catastrophe prone
areas. If you don't have this information, you will pay a
penalty for not knowing; it's known as uncertainty risk. By
collecting the information on each policy, you can reduce your
reinsurance costs significantly.
As you may know, we've been offering national building
characteristics info for some time now through the RiskMeter
Online. However, because the data is not available everywhere
(it can be very difficult to obtain for a variety of reasons),
many times match rates were disappointing. We're trying to do
something about it.
We've been working with a partner to collect ALL of the
available building characteristics in FL. We believe that
we have the information for every area in Florida where it is
available. We could take all of your Florida policies and
code them with year built, number of stories, and more. We can
do this for the rest of the country, too, but the match rates
won't be as good. This can potentially save you millions in
reinsurance premiums.
