Important
Information about the New Connecticut
Coastline |
|
CDS recently spoke to the Connecticut Department of
Insurance about its new coastline requirements and would like
to pass along some important information regarding the
RiskMeter approved CT coastline.
It has been brought to
our attention that all carriers who write residential
business in Connecticut should be using either RiskMeter's
CT coastline report or another CT DOI approved vendor report.
Carriers should not be using pre-existing coastal products
that do not comply with what the department has agreed to.
There may be no deviations or variations made and companies
will be subject to market conduct reviews to ensure that they
are in compliance.
Currently, it's not required
to write commercial policies using the new CT DOI coastline,
but it is encouraged. Also, we are not sure if this applies to
non-admitted carriers. It has been confirmed though if any
carrier has not been using the approved CT Department of
insurance coastline report on residential properties, they
will be considered out of compliance with the department's
guidelines. In addition, the CT DOI coastline still needs to
be used even if a carrier does not require storm shutters as
part of their coastal guidelines.

questions or concerns, please contact Jamie Munson at

Angora, CA
Wildfire Recap, Wildfire Resources and
Training |
|
According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection, the Angora, California wildfire near Lake Tahoe in
late June destroyed 242 residences and 67 commercial
structures and damaged an additional 35 residences.
Overall, the outlook for the 2007 wildfire season
doesn't look good. The U.S. Drought Monitor has reported that
half of the U.S. is either abnormally dry or has drought
conditions. For people who write brush policies in AZ, CA,
CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA and WY now is the time
to review your brush exposure, in order to ensure proper
pricing of policies and to limit your wildfire risk.
New Wildfire Resource Area CDS has compiled many
different maps and information over the years. We're now
trying to make more of this information available to our users
through new resource pages. Our idea is to have a page on each
report, as well as other topics like geocoding and batch
processing. We have started with resource pages for Wildfire
and Storm Surge. On the wildfire page, you will find a map
showing the Angora fire overlaid on the CDS wildfire model,
which shows how well we predicted the fire. In addition, there
are additional maps showing our performance in some of the
largest fires in the past few years. To access this page and
the burn maps: http://www.riskmeter.com/riskmeter/wildfire_download

Parcel Lookup Feature |
|
CDS has just added a new search feature to the RiskMeter
Online, which will enhance its report accuracy. It's now
possible to look up policies in California and Florida by
their parcel ids. This search feature is much more accurate
than looking up properties by interpolated street addresses.
Currently, we are testing this feature out, but we've made
it live to get your input. If anyone is interested in testing
this feature out, just click on the parcels tab, on the right
hand side of the search by address screen. Once you've done
that, fill in the policy id number, state and then county.
Unfortunately, parcel data isn't available for a couple of
counties.
If you have any feedback (good or bad), please contact Dan
Munson at 617.737.4444 or dmunson@cdsys.com

New Jersey
and Delaware Storm Surge Now Available |
|
CDS has added New Jersey and Delaware to its growing list
of areas where the RiskMeter Storm Surge report is now
available. This report identifies areas susceptible to coastal
flooding from hurricanes. The next state that will be added is
MD, followed by VA. Then we will have the entire Gulf and
Atlantic Coasts complete. Stay tuned! If you have any
questions or are interested in a free trial, please contact
Daniel Munson at 617.737.4444 or dmunson@cdsys.com
Storm Surge Resources Did you know that over
2 million people in Long Island live in a storm surge area
that's not recognized as a 100 year flood zone? Are you
interested in learning more useful facts like that? Check out
RiskMeter's new storm surge resources where you'll find
detailed storm surge maps and an informative Power Point
presentation. Check it out at: http://www.riskmeter.com/riskmeter/stormsurge_down

Update:
South Carolina Windpool Areas |
|
On March 30, 2007 South Carolina Beach and Coastal windpool
areas were changed and approximately 166 square miles were
added to zones 1 and 2.
The state of South Carolina has
once again made changes to these zones (effective June 1st)
and approximately 330 square miles have been added. We
have updated these maps on the RiskMeter Online, and we will
continue to monitor this situation if anymore changes need to
be made.
If you have any questions or you would like
more information about running your book of business through
in batch, please contact Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125

New
RiskMeter email eReport |
|
Due to popular demand, the RiskMeter Online has just added
a new feature which makes it possible to email a pdf of a
report. In the past this could be done, but the user needed to
save a copy of the PDF to their computer, and then attach it
to an email. Now it can be done by simply entering an email
address. This will be especially useful for people who want to
save a copy of the report to their imaging system.
Users can utilize this feature by clicking on the
"Email eReport" icon. Once this icon is clicked on, users just
need to submit an email address and the RiskMeter Online will
send a pdf of the report to the email entered. For people who
are interested in adding this feature to their account, please
contact an account executive at 617.737.4444
