Updated
Tornado Exposure Report |
|
CDS has recently updated the RiskMeter's tornado exposure
report. This report is based on National Climatic Data Center
figures for the last fifteen years (1990 - 2004). By simply
typing in an address, you will receive:
Tscale:
This is a number between 1 - 100 that represents the
frequency of tornado events from 1990 - 2004. The national
average is 7, so any Tscale number higher than that is more
likely to have a tornado occur.
Tpercentile:
This is a percentile score that compares your lookup to
the rest of the US. For example, a score of 10 means that it
is in the lowest 10% of all areas in the U.S. or a score of 80
would mean that it is in the top 20% of all areas in the U.S.
Storms per Year: This is the average number of
storms per year for the area. The national average is a
tornado every 3.3 years or .304 tornadoes per year.
Tornado Score: This is the tornado score based
upon the number of tornadoes per year. The scores can be
interpreted as follows:
0 - No Risk - No storms
1 - Low Risk - 5+ years between tornadoes
2 -
Average Risk - 2 to 5 years between tornadoes
3 -
Elevated Risk - 1 to 2 years between tornadoes
4 - High
Risk - 1 to 2 tornadoes per year
5 - Extreme Risk -
More than 2 tornadoes per year

Updated Hail
Exposure Report |
|
This report gauges the potential for hail damage for any
location in the Continental U.S. It is based on National
Climatic Data Center hail data from 1990 - 2004. With this
report you will receive:
Hscale: This is a
number between 1 - 100 that represents the frequency of hail
for the last fifteen years. For example the national average
is 6 (1.85 hail storms per/yr), so any Hscale number higher
than that is more likely to have hail.
Hpercentile:
This is a percentile score that compares your lookup to
the rest of the US. For example, a score of 10 means that it's
in the lowest 10% of all areas in the US or a score of 80
means that your lookup is in the top 20% compared to all areas
in the US.
Storms per Year: This is the average
number of storms per year for the area. The national average
is 1.85 storms per year.
Hail Score: This is
the hail score based upon the number of storms per year. The
scores can be interpreted as follows:
0 - No Risk - No
Storms
1 - Low Risk - Less than 1.5 storms per
year
2 - Average Risk - 1.5 to 2 storms per
year
3 - Elevated Risk - 2 to 5 storms per
year
4 - High Risk - 5 to 15 storms per year
5 -
Extreme Risk - More than 15 storms per year

more information, please contact your Account Executive.

RiskMeter
Adds Version 3 of Castle's Replacement Cost
Estimator |
|
CDS is pleased to announce that it has added version 3 of
Castle's Web-based replacement cost estimator to the RiskMeter

user-friendly interface and generates a very accurate
replacement cost based on Castle's minimum required fields.
However, if you would like to "dig deeper", clicking the new
View/Edit components button allows you to confirm or edit all
of the interior features of the home for a higher degree of
precision. For more information on this feature, please
contact your CDS Account Executive. |
