RiskMeter's NEW Flood Elevation Report

CDS is proud to announce that it has added a NEW
flood elevation report to the RiskMeter Online. This
report will help insurers to gain a better
understanding of their flood risk
for policies that fall outside a flood zone.
Why is this important?
One lesson learned from the 2005 hurricane season
was that floods don’t stop at the edge of a flood
zone! Now that the 2006 hurricane season is under
way, it’s imperative for insurers to use every tool
available to evaluate flood risk. By simply typing in
an address, the RiskMeter’s flood elevation report will
return crucial information, such as:
- Distance to Flood Zone
- Estimated Base Flood Elevation
- Elevation at a Location
- Estimated Height Above a Flood Zone
- Estimated Water Depth in a Flood Zone
This data is vital in order to increase flood
insurance sales, as
well as to gain a better understanding of flood risk.
For
example agents now have a new way to sell
insurance to people who live outside a flood zone and
excess flood insurers will have a new tool to
evaluate flood hazards.

report, please contact Daniel Munson at

AAIS to Offer Access to RiskMeter Online's Natural Hazard Risk Reports

CDS is proud to announce that the American
Association of Insurance Services is now offering its
members free trial access to the RiskMeter
Online. AAIS members can access this information
by logging into their AAISdirect account, then
clicking on the RiskMeter banner. From there they
will be taken to a page, which describes the service.
On this page they will see a "Proceed to
RiskMeter" icon. Once someone clicks on this icon, it
will take them to the RiskMeter search by address
page.
This partnership will be especially beneficial to
those AAIS members who use its simplified fire
protection definitions. Users will now be able to get
the
distance to nearest fire station through the
RiskMeter Online. Having the distance available
through RiskMeter will save time and improve
accuracy in the use of simplified
definitions. In addition, members will also have
access to
reports, such as flood, distance to coast, crime,
wildfire and much more!
To learn more about this program or other
partnership opportunities, please contact
Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125 or

Append Year Built to Your Current Policies

As you may know, one of the catastrophe modeling
companies has recently changed its hurricane model,
and year built has become a much more important
factor. If you do not have this for each policy, you
may be penalized when you negotiate your
reinsurance contracts. CDS is pleased to announce
that we now have the ability to append this
information to policies nationwide! This means you
can send us your entire book of business, and we
can append this information. We can also append
other data as well, such as square footage, number
of stories, roof covering, roof shape and more! This
information is gleaned from county assessors data.
In addition, this data can be accessed for individual
locations as a RiskMeter Online report. While we may
not be able to append every record, we should be
able to fill in many of the blanks for you, giving you
better information for your reinsurance negotiations.

representative today at 617.737.4444 or

CDS Introduces Revolutionary Aggregate Module

Going into hurricane Katrina, many insurers thought
they had a pretty good idea of what their flood and
hurricane losses might be. Unfortunately, the risk
models they used provided loss estimates that were
way off. This left insurers scrambling to pay claims
on policies, many of which they wouldn’t have
accepted in the first place.
In order to help insurers to better manage their
exposure, CDS has added a revolutionary
aggregate module to the RiskMeter Online. Some of
the features on this module include:
Aggregate Around a Point: Enter an address
and it will return how many policies have
been written in an area, TIV and other vital
statistics.
Display Aggregates for Custom Pre-Defined
Regions:
For companies who want to keep track of what’s
been written in special areas of concern (coastal
areas, EQ zones, etc.), the CDS aggregate module
will display the policies written and if the policy
in question falls into an area of concern. In addition,
it will also return aggregate values for a region.
Display Limits for Custom Pre-Defined Regions:
Insurers looking to maintain exposure limits for pre-
defined areas can get
a snap shot of what’s been written and the coverage
limits.
This will tell users if they can or cannot write a new
piece of business.
Review Policy Data: Individual policy details
may be
reviewed for any area, by clicking on the policy in
question on the map.
Natural Hazard Reports: RiskMeter’s
natural
hazard risk reports can be run in conjunction with the
aggregate module as well. This will allow users to
look
at a new piece of business, review what’s been
written in an area, and gain a better understanding
of the risk profile of this new piece of business.
These are two key factors which
will help
users determine if they want to bind a risk.

900 NEW Sinkholes Added to Database

CDS is proud to announce that 900 new
sinkholes
have been added to the RiskMeter Online’s sinkhole
database! In an effort to provide the most
comprehensive sinkhole report for Florida, CDS is
coordinating a sinkhole clearing house for carriers.
Currently, there are over 4,100 sinkholes in the
clearing house. CDS believes sharing sinkhole
information will allow carriers to have the most
accurate picture of
sinkhole activity in FL. CDS has added roughly 2,000
sinkholes not available from public sources to its
database from carriers. Missing just one of these
could lead to a very costly claim! Get involved today!
How Does this Program Work?
For people who aren’t familiar with this program,
here’s how it works. Insurers who submit reported
sinkholes will have access to an exclusive database
that is comprised of our data and other carriers’
data. Taking part in this program is a win-win
situation, because it will give users a better picture
of their sinkhole risk. To find out more about this
program, contact
Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125 or
jmunson@cdsys.com
