RiskMeter
Integrated into Guy Carpenter's i-aXs |
|
Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk
and reinsurance specialist, has integrated the RiskMeter
Online into its award winning i-aXs Data Management Platform.
By integrating this service into i-aXs, Guy Carpenter clients
with a RiskMeter account will have one-click access to their
subscribed RiskMeter information for the specific location
analyzed.
"Guy Carpenter remains committed to providing its clients
with greater flexibility in how they use i-aXs, by integrating
it with a host of powerful complementary services," explains
Ryan Ogaard, Managing Director and Global Leader of Guy
Carpenter's Instrat unit. The addition of the RiskMeter Online
will provide i-aXs users with the ability to view and manage
their exposure information through a single, unified hub.

New Score
Field Added to Storm Surge Report |
|
Some users have been confused, due to our minimum
hurricane category field in our storm surge report. For
example, an area with a minimum hurricane category of 1 poses
a greater risk than a minimum hurricane category of 5. This is
because every hurricane (category 1-5) would affect an area
with a minimum hurricane category of 1, while an area with a
minimum hurricane value of 5, would only be affected by the
strongest (cat 5 ) storms. And a 0 means no risk (not expected
to be affected by storm surge).
In order to provide our users a clearer picture in
regards to their storm surge risk, we have added a new field
called "Storm Surge Score". The new score field returns a
simple 0-5, where 5 is the highest risk, and 0 is the lowest
risk/no risk. This should be easier for underwriters to
understand, as the higher the number, the higher the
risk.
- 5 - Highest Risk
- 4 - High Risk
- 3 - Medium Risk
- 2 - Medium/Low Risk
- 1 - Low Risk
- 0 - Very Low/No Risk

Additional States Added to Section/Range/Township
Search Feature |
|
Within the next two weeks the RiskMeter Online will be
adding the following states: IN, LA, MI, NE, NV, OH, OK,
SD and UT to its Section/Range/Township (S/R/T)
search feature. After that we will add AL and
TX.
If you're not familiar with S/R/T it's a system known as
the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). Basically, it is a
standardized grid used in western states. The section grids
are rectangles approximately 1 mile across. They are used in
many cases by rural insurers or when insuring
agricultural/farm properties. This is the newest way to zero
in on an address, and can be found as one of the tabs on the
search by address page.
Additionally, if you have a list of addresses or
coordinates, we can give you the section/range/township for
each. This is helpful for companies trying to aggregate to
section/range/township.

Parcel Level
Geocoding for Florida is Now Available |
|
CDS is proud to announce it has added a Florida parcel
level geocoding database to the RiskMeter Online. This
database contains over of over 7 million parcels with
addresses in 65 out of 67 counties, and partial
coverage in the remaining two.
One of the main
benefits of this database is its increased accuracy when it
comes to geocoding addresses. Although standard geocoding is
accurate, parcel level geocoding takes it one step further.
When an address is run through this database, it will place
the address entered into the center of the parcel. This type
of accuracy will be especially helpful when checking for
distance to coast, flood, rating territories and windpool
eligibility. To discuss adding this to your account, please
contact your account executive.

Lower Your
Reinsurance Costs in Florida |
|
As most insurance people know, building details, such as
the number of stories, year built, roof shape, etc.,
can greatly affect how a building withstands a hurricane. And
as a result, these details dramatically affect the cost of
reinsurance. This is especially true in catastrophe prone
areas. If you don't have this information, you will pay a
penalty for not knowing; it's known as uncertainty risk. By
collecting the information on each policy, you can reduce your
reinsurance costs significantly.
As you may know, we've been offering national building
characteristics info for some time now through the RiskMeter
Online. However, because the data is not available everywhere
(it can be very difficult to obtain for a variety of reasons),
many times match rates were disappointing. We're trying to do
something about it.
We've been working with a partner to collect ALL of the
available building characteristics in FL. We believe that
we have the information for every area in Florida where it is
available. We could take all of your Florida policies and
code them with year built, number of stories, and more. We can
do this for the rest of the country, too, but the match rates
won't be as good. This can potentially save you millions in
reinsurance premiums.

service, please contact Daniel Munson at 617.737.4444

Storm Surge
Coverage is Now Available for Atlantic & Gulf
Coasts |
|
CDS has just added Hawaii, Maryland, Virginia and Puerto
Rico to its RiskMeter Online Storm Surge report. With the
additions of Maryland and Virginia, we now provide complete
coverage for the entire Atlantic and Gulf coasts!
For those of you who aren't familiar with this report,
RiskMeter's Storm Surge report identifies areas that are
likely to be flooded during hurricanes. Our storm surge maps
are based upon the well known as respected SLOSH
(Sea, Lake, and
Overland Surges from
Hurricanes) storm surge model. This report will
let you know if a property falls within an area likely to
flood from a hurricane of a specific strength (category 1-5),
as well as the estimated storm surge height for each category
of storm.
For more information on this report or to get a
complimentary trial account, please contact Daniel Munson at
