  • CDS Introduces Revolutionary Aggregate Model
  • Going into hurricane Katrina, many insurers thought they had a pretty good idea of what their flood and hurricane losses might be. Unfortunately, the risk models they used provided loss estimates that were way off. This left insurers scrambling to pay claims on policies, many of which they wouldn’t have accepted in the first place.

In order to help insurers to better manage their exposure, CDS will soon be adding a revolutionary aggregate model to the RiskMeter Online. Some of the features on this model include:

Aggregate Around a Point: Enter an address and this model will return how many policies have been written in an area, tiv and other vital statistics.

Display Aggregates for Custom Pre-Defined Regions: For companies who want to keep track of what’s been written in special areas of concern (coastline, flood hazard, etc.), the CDS aggregate model will display the policies written and if the policy in question falls into an area of concern.

Display Limits for Custom Pre-Defined Regions: Insurers looking to maintain exposure limits for pre- defined areas (coastline, flood hazard, etc.) can get a snap shot of what’s been written and the limits. This will tell users if they can or cannot write a new piece of business.

Review Policy Data: Policies may be reviewed for any that fall into a pre-defined region or pre-defined radius. In addition, individual policy data can be viewed, by clicking on the policy in question.

Natural Hazard Reports: RiskMeter’s natural hazard risk reports can be run in conjunction with the aggregate model as well. This will allow users to look at a new piece of business, review what’s been written in an area, and gain a better understanding of the risk profile of this new piece of business. These are two key factors which will help users determine if they want to bind a risk.

For more information on the aggregate model, please contact Dan Munson at 617.737.4444 or dmunson@cdsys.com

  • 900 NEW Sinkholes Added to Database
  • CDS is proud to announce that 900 new sinkholes have been added to the RiskMeter Online’s sinkhole database! In an effort to provide the most comprehensive sinkhole report for Florida, CDS is coordinating a sinkhole clearing house for carriers. Currently, there are over 4,100 sinkholes in the clearing house. CDS believes sharing sinkhole information will allow carriers to have the most accurate picture of sinkhole activity in FL. CDS has added roughly 2,000 sinkholes not available from public sources to its database from carriers. Missing just one of these could lead to a very costly claim! Get involved today!

    How Does this Program Work?
For people who aren’t familiar with this program, here’s how it works. Insurers who submit reported sinkholes will have access to an exclusive database that is comprised of our data and other carriers’ data. Taking part in this program is a win-win situation, because it will give users a better picture of their sinkhole risk. To find out more about this program, contact Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125 or jmunson@cdsys.com

  • Five More States Added to Distance to Fire Station Report
  • CDS has just added to Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming to the RiskMeter Online's Distance to Fire Station report. This brings the total number of states to 46! Within the next few weeks Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota will be added as well.

The distance between a property and the primary fire station directly affects your loss ratio. Regardless of the training, personnel or equipment at a station, if an insured location is greater than 5 miles from a station the chance of a large loss is inevitable. By simply typing in an address, you will get: driving distance to local responding fire stations, names of the stations and staffing (career or volunteer).

We will continue to add more states until we meet our goal of providing nationwide coverage. For more information, please contact Jamie Munson at 860.854.6125 or jmunson@cdsys.com. In addition, we also have responding fire district boundaries for the following states: CA, FL, HI, IL, KS, MS, ND and VA.
