| Featured WebEx: Rating
Territory Validation |
|
Assigning the proper rating
territories to policies is very important, as it
is the foundation for accurately pricing
a policy. However, quite often this is done
incorrectly, costing insurance companies lots of
money in lost premiums. Our past experiences
with carriers have shown that error rates
often exceed 15%! There are many
reasons why policies don't get the proper
rating territories. A few examples would be:
mistakes made by agents, confusing definitions
and incorrectly assuming the town name gives
the proper territory.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at
2PM (EDT), Dan Munson, Founder, RiskMeter
Online will answer your questions and show you how
the RiskMeter can be used to correctly get the
proper rating territories, regardless of how your
territories are defined, by using street-level
mapping. In addition, he'll also show you
how it's possible to create sub-zip rating
territories with this technology.

| IL Fire and Tax Districts
Updated |
|
| CDS has just updated and
published the revised IL Fire and Tax Districts to
the RiskMeter Online. By simply typing in an
address, it's possible to assign the proper rating
and tax codes for IL. CDS can also assign
the proper tax codes in several states, including:
AL, FL, GA, IL,
KY, LA, NJ and SC. For
more information, please contact Dan Munson at
617.737.4444
or
dmunson@cdsys.com |
| KY Tax Districts
Updated |
|
CDS has just made an update
to its KY fire tax report to ensure that it has
the most up-to-date information. In
addition, CDS is working with the KY DOI to
certify the RiskMeter for use in validating
insurance tax information. Recently the KY DOI has
made it a law that insurers must use a mapping
based system to assign tax codes. For more
information, contact Dan Munson at 617.737.4444
or
dmunson@cdsys.com

| Base Flood Elevation to be
Added to Flood Reports |
|
When it comes to analyzing
and pricing flood risk, one crucial element of the
equation is knowing the Base Flood Elevation
(BFE). Whether a property falls into or out
of a flood zone, the BFE can provide insurers with
insight into how much damage a property may suffer
from a 1% or 100 year flood. Within the next
few weeks CDS will be adding the BFEs to
RiskMeter's Flood reports. These are the
actual BFE's printed on the map panels. This
addition should make it easier to analyze and
price flood risk. For more information,
please speak with Ryan Turgeon at 617.737.4444 or
rturgeon@cdsys.com

| 500 Sinkholes Added to
Clearinghouse |
|
CDS is proud to announce that
500 sinkholes have been added to RiskMeter's
sinkhole database! In an effort to provide the
most comprehensive sinkhole report for Florida,
CDS is coordinating a sinkhole clearing house for
carriers. By sharing sinkhole information, CDS
believes this will allow carriers to have the most
accurate picture of sinkhole activity in FL. CDS
has added roughly 4,000 sinkholes not available
from public sources to its database from carriers.
Missing
just one of these could lead to a very costly
claim! Get involved today!
For
people who aren't familiar with this program,
here's how it works. Insurers who submit reported
sinkholes will have access to an exclusive
database that is comprised of our data and other
carriers' data. Taking part in this program is
a win-win situation because it will give users a
better picture of their sinkhole risk. To find out
more about this program, please contact Jamie
Munson at 860.854.6125 or
jmunson@cdsys.com

Eight States to be Added
to Fire District Report
|
|
CDS will soon be adding NY, GA, MA, RI, NJ, NC,
NE, WY (in order of expected completion)
during the course of the summer to its Responding
Fire District Report. Currently, this report
provides coverage for the following states: AZ, CA, FL, HI, IL, KS,
KY, LA, MS, ND, OK, SC, VA.
How will this report
benefit users? In order to accurately
price a policy for fire, underwriters must refer
to their PPC manual to get a rating.
Unfortunately, the fire district name is needed to
assign a rating, which can be difficult to figure
out. If underwriters don't have this information,
they are forced to find a different method to
determine the district. This can be a very time
consuming and error prone process. That's why the
RiskMeter Online developed its Responding Fire
District Report. By simply typing in an address,
users can get the name of the responding fire
district in a matter of minutes. For more
information, please contact Dan Munson at 617.737.4444 or
dmunson@cdsys.com

| New RiskMeter Partners
Page |
|
As all insurers know,
integration projects are time consuming, expensive
endeavors. CDS is partnering with leading
systems vendors to offer RiskMeter functionality
through their systems off the shelf. This
way, you avoid the frustrations involved with an
integration project, but you get the same
benefits, more quickly and at a lower
cost.
Over the last couple of months
RiskMeter has formed alliances with FirstBest,
AgencyPort and Virtual MGA. In the upcoming
months there will be more announcements of
companies we have integrated with. In order
to help new and existing users to keep track who
we've integrated with, RiskMeter has just
published a partner's
page. We will update this page anytime
we add a new partner or join an association.
In addition, we are always interested in
integrating with in-house or 3rd party quoting and
underwriting systems, so if anyone has requests,
please contact Val Feeney, Business Partnership
Manager at 617.737.4444 or
vfeeney@cdsys.com |
| More Batch Enhancements
Coming Soon! |
|
For those of you who aren't
familiar with the RiskMeter Online batch service,
it allows users to run multiple addresses or
schedules, without the need to type in each
address individually. RiskMeter's batch
feature enables users to upload a file and get the
results emailed back in spreadsheet form anytime,
anywhere. Over the last few months
CDS has made some enhancements to the RiskMeter
Online Batch Web site, including:
- Option to save results as an Excel
spreadsheet
- Internal RiskMeter code deleted from results
- Current batch users can click on a link in
RiskMeter and it will automatically log them
into the batch site
- Ability to add Geocoding Accuracy column
- Option to add Latitude/Longitude column
- Ability to click a link in the output table
to open an individual record in RiskMeter to
review the results
CDS is looking
for people to test our latest enhancements before
they become live. The first feature will
make it possible for users to automatically upload
an Excel input file on the site. The second
enhancement is a file preview feature, which will
alert users if there are any formatting problems
before submission. If you wish to take part
in testing or have ideas for other features,
please contact Dan Munson at 617.737.4444 or
dmunson@cdsys.com
