Top Ten Tornado Prone Cities

CDS Business Mapping, LLC a leader in online hazard
mapping, has just released a report which includes a
list of the top ten
tornado prone metro cities. This list is based on the
RiskMeter Online’s Tornado Model, which predicts the
severity of tornadoes for any location in the
Continental United States. According the RiskMeter's
Tornado report, the following
top ten tornado prone metro-cities are as follows:
- Aurora, CO
- St. Petersburg, FL
- Houston, TX
- Hollywood, FL
- Sioux Falls, SD
- Little Rock, AR
- Dallas, TX
- Ames, IA
- Oklahoma City, OK
- Bloomington, IL
Tornado exposure has and will always be a
consistent threat to insurers. According to the
National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA), in an average year the U.S. experiences
1,200 tornadoes, which kills 55 Americans, injures
1,500 and causes more than $400 million in damage.
For more information about the frequency
and
geography of tornadoes, please contact Daniel
Munson, VP of Sales & Marketing
at 617.737.4444 or

Flood Elevation Report Live in 49 States

One lesson learned from the 2005 hurricane season
was that flood risk does not stop at the edge of an A
or V zone. 25% of all flood losses occur outside of
the 100-year flood plain. The new Flood Elevation
report can help you to understand this risk. This
new
report will tell you the distance to the nearest A or V
zone, as well as estimate the height above the flood
zone. From this information, you can identify policies
that are very close to a flood zone, and not much
higher. If you're writing excess flood, this is the
report for you!
Currently,
RiskMeter’s Flood
Elevation report is the ONLY real-time report that
combines FEMA Flood Zone and elevation data. By
simply typing in an address, users will be able to get:
- FEMA Flood Zone
- Distance to Flood Zone
- Estimated Height Above a Flood Zone
- Estimated Base Flood Elevation (eBFE)
- Elevation at a Location
- Estimated Water Depth in a Flood Zone
- Aerial Photo (Optional)
This report will not only benefit flood insurers by
giving them another tool to evaluate flood risk, but it
will also help agents to sell flood insurance to people
who live outside a flood zone. This report is available
for every state, except for Alaska. To get a
complimentary flood elevation trial account,
please contact Daniel
Munson at 617.737.4444 or
dmunson@cdsys.com

Featured WebEx: NEW Flood Elevation Report

Due to popular demand RiskMeter will be offering
another training session on our new Flood Elevation
report. As you already know, the most common
natural disaster is flooding. Every
state is susceptible to flooding and this problem will
only get worse due to new land development and
changes in weather patterns and topology.
RiskMeter's flood elevation report is the perfect tool
for underwriters to dig deeper when it comes to
evaluating flood risk. In addition, this report will
also benefit agents by allowing them to sell more
flood insurance to people who live outside a flood
zone.
This live, online demonstration will be
taking place on Thursday, December 7th at
2pm EST. To secure your spot, please
register at

California PML Zones Now Available

Many brokers use PML (Probable Maximum Loss)
Zones in CA to aggregate earthquake exposures. We
have added these maps as a standard RiskMeter
Online Report. These are standard zones defined by
the California Department of Insurance, and are a
reporting requirement for insurers doing business in
California. CDS can also run policies in batch, and
append these zones to all of your CA business. If
you are interested, or would like this report added to
your account, please contact Bradley Sherwin
at 617.737.4444 or
bsherwin@cdsys.com

Base Flood Elevations and Flood Certifications

CDS is considering expanding our flood offerings to
include Base Flood Elevations and Flood
Certifications. Base Flood Elevations (BFE's) are
required to write NFIP flood business in many zones.
Flood Certifications are guaranteed flood results. If
you think these two services would be useful to you,
please let us know by contacting Daniel Munson
at
dmunson@cdsys.com or
617.737.4444 with your opinions and insights.
