New RiskMeter 2.0 Aerial & Street Maps

The RiskMeter Online has added enhanced aerial and street maps to its service. These new maps should make it even easier for property & casualty insurance professionals to price and assess natural hazard risks.

What Should Users Expect?
The RiskMeter Online will work the same way as before. Users will log into their accounts, type in an address and be taken to the address verification screen. The only difference will be that users will be given the option of selecting a street level map or an aerial photo with GIS layers on it (exhibit 1). RiskMeter by default will return a street map, not an aerial map.

About RiskMeter's New Street & Aerial Flood Maps
RiskMeter has made two significant improvements to its service. First, RiskMeter has improved the look of its street maps (exhibit 2), by adding street names and landmarks to them. This enhancement will make it even easier for users to run risk reports on new developments, properties located in rural areas, as well as verify addresses that have poor geocoding results.

The second improvement RiskMeter has made is the ability to overlay GIS maps directly on aerial images (exhibit 3). This feature will be extremely helpful in analyzing risk, by enabling users to see where natural hazards fall in relation to a building. Users will no longer need to compare a GIS map to an aerial image, as these two maps have been merged.
